Plain answers, stamped from the service van. No filler, no fake five-star choreography — just how the work runs across the El Paso / Las Cruces corridor.
Q.01Do you actually come to my RV park or do I bring the RV in?
We come to you. Desert Star is fully mobile — we work on-site at RV parks, campgrounds, driveways, dealership lots and storage yards across El Paso 79912 and the Las Cruces corridor. If a job genuinely cannot be finished on-site (rare), we tell you up front before any work begins.
Q.02What classes of RV do you service?
Class A, B and C motorhomes, 5th wheels, travel trailers, toy haulers and pop-up campers. Both gas and diesel coaches. We service house-side systems on every class; chassis-side work is referred to a qualified shop when needed.
Q.03How fast is dispatch to Las Cruces from El Paso?
Same-day dispatch on most weekdays. Drive time from our El Paso 79912 base to Las Cruces 88001 is roughly 50–55 minutes on I-10, so a confirmed slot typically lands inside a 90-minute arrival window. Anthony NM and Sunland Park sit between, so they’re usually faster.
Q.04Can you handle solar, inverter and 12V electrical issues?
Yes. 12V house systems, converters, inverters, battery banks (AGM and lithium drop-ins), shore power, transfer switches, GFCI loads, and roof-mounted solar arrays. We diagnose with a multimeter and a clamp meter on every electrical call — not by guessing parts.
Q.05Do you work on slide-outs and leveling jacks?
Yes — Schwintek, Lippert (Power Gear), HWH and BAL slide mechanisms; hydraulic and electric leveling systems. Common fixes are motor swaps, controller resets, gear rebuilds, hydraulic line leaks and seal replacements.
Q.06What hours does mobile dispatch operate?
Standard service runs Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm Mountain. Weekends are call-in for stranded travelers and emergency triage. After-hours requests are returned the next morning unless flagged urgent.
Q.07Do you carry common parts in the truck?
The service van carries the high-turnover stock — converters, transfer switches, breakers, GFCI receptacles, propane regulators, water pumps, faucets, fittings, sealant, common slide motors and gear packs. Specialty parts (a specific OEM control board, a particular awning fabric) are sourced and scheduled for a return visit.
Q.08Will my extended warranty cover mobile service?
Many extended service contracts (Good Sam, Wholesale Warranties, RV Masterpiece, dealer-issued plans) will reimburse mobile labor and diagnostic time. Coverage depends on your specific contract — we document the diagnosis in writing so you can submit the claim. Authorization must come from the warranty administrator before parts are installed.
